The Town of Auburn does not have a town police department. The Ritchie County Sheriff's Office and the West Viriginia State Police are empowered to enforce the law, protect property and reduce civil disorder in the Town of Auburn.

Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department

 
The fire department that is empowered to provide fire protection and first response services for the Town of Auburn is the Harrisville VFD. The Harrisville VFD also employs the services of other county VFDs to oversee the fire protection district that encompasses the Town of Auburn.

Ritchie County Ambulance Authority

 
The Ritchie County Ambulance Authority is a branch of emergency services dedicated to providing out-of-hospital acute medical care and/or transport to definitive care, to patients with illnesses and injuries which the patient, or the medical practitioner, believes constitutes a medical emergency. The goal of the Ritchie County Ambulance Authority as it relates to Emergency Medical Services is to either provide treatment to those in need of urgent medical care, with the goal of satisfactorily treating the malady, or arranging for timely removal of the patient to the next point of definitive care.
