The McMechen Police Department is empowered to enforce the law, protect property and reduce civil disorder in the City of McMechen. The McMechen Police Department is engaged in an array of activities, depending on the situation, but its predominant concern is the preservation of order.

The fire department that is empowered to provide fire protection and first response services for the City of McMechen is the McMechen VFD. 

McMechen EMS

McMechen EMS is a branch of the McMechen VFD that provides prehospital care to patients in McMechen, Benwood, Boggs Run and Beenwood Hill areas of Marshall County.
